Boone Group Sponsors USASOC Golf Tournament

Tournament to Benefit Families of Deployed Special Operations Professionals in Nation’s Capital

On September 9th, Boone Group senior leadership and other team members joined the military and defense communities at the second annual DC Special Operations Golf Classic, benefitting the 6:8 Foundation. The 6:8 Foundation provides discrete support to the families of deployed special operations professionals in our nation’s capital.

The event, taking place around the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, was held at Pohick Bay Golf Course in Lorton, Virginia.

“Our special operations personnel safeguard our freedom in untold ways every day, 365 days a year” said Joy A. Shanaberger, Boone’s CEO. “While they put their lives on the line in the most distant corners of the world, their families make incredible sacrifices here at home.”

“Unlike other servicemembers, the nature of special operations missions means that family members of those deployed can’t seek the support or relief available to other servicemembers and their families,” Shanaberger continued. “So, we are thrilled to support the 6:8 Foundation, which is the only organization that fills this gap and provides important and badly-needed support.”

Included in the services that the 6:8 Foundation provides are deployment support, marriage retreats, spousal online skill development, meal delivery for deployed servicemembers’ families, and youth resiliency through adventure and educational programs. The Golf Classic generates the resources required to support families through these services.

“This event is a fantastic way to support an organization doing valuable work to preserve healthy, intact families for when our nation’s Special Operations Forces return home,” said Jerome Posatko, Boone’s Chief Financial Officer. “The 6:8 Foundation works tirelessly to support these families and we are proud to help them carry out this important mission. We are grateful to the heroes serving abroad in our special operations forces and to their families who also make sacrifices so their loved ones can serve.”

This year, the 6:8 Foundation partnered with a local restaurant in Virginia to deliver complimentary meals to the chronically overtaxed families of deployed special operators. The Foundation also organized a Polaris Kids Rock Climbing Event, geared to the children of those deployed and offering a fun and adventurous distraction.
